Donna Carter Obituary, Surgoinsville TN, In Loving Memory Of Donna Carter

Donna Carter Obituary, Death – Throughout Sunday, December 24, 2023, Donna Kay Carter, who resided in Surgoinsville and was sixty years old, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior. Her legacy will be defined by her unshakeable faith and great dedication to service, although she has been battling cancer and the repercussions of the disease for the past year and a half already. Donna was a dedicated employee of the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Department for fourteen years, during which she served as a first sergeant for ten of those years. However, due to her health, she was forced to retire in September of 2023.

The fact that she was able to persevere in the face of challenges was a testament to her bravery and unyielding dedication. Donna, who was remembered as a kind and caring person, found happiness in the simplest pleasures that life had to offer, such as tending to her garden, tending to her flowers, and cherishing moments with her beloved family and grandchildren. The unshakeable confidence that she had in the Lord served as a compass for her voyage, and it gave her the fortitude to put her trust in His plan. Her altruism shined clearly as she continuously prioritized the well-being of others over her own, and her smile served as a source of encouragement and solace for those who were in her immediate vicinity.

With the help of the Mt. Vernon Independent Missionary Baptist Church and the Long Hollow Primitive Baptist Church, Donna was able to find peace and comfort in her spiritual commitment. Donna’s presence will be sorely missed by her devoted family, which includes her son Nicholas Fortner, her daughter Leslie Bethea, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives. During her illness, the family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Holston Valley Intensive Care Unit as well as to everyone who offered support, prayers, and kindness.

On Friday, December 29, 2023, from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening, friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Christian-Sells Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at one o’clock in the afternoon. The Reverend Billy Linkous, the Reverend Danny Bell, and the Lieutenant Butch Gallion will preside over the ceremony. Following the service, the burial will take place at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. The legacy of love, strength, and faith that Donna left behind will live on in perpetuity in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
