Floyd Crouch Obituary, Death – On Monday, December 18, 2023, Bedford bid farewell to one of its own, Floyd Nelson Crouch, who peacefully passed away at the age of 88 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. Born on May 5, 1935, in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Warren S. Crouch and Margaret Holdren Crouch. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Nina Bell Crouch, second wife, Marie Fariss Crouch, siblings Murline Crouch, Velma Davis, Avis Crouch Frye, Haywood Lewis Crouch, Emily Crouch Bennett, and daughter-in-law Angie Trent Crouch.

Nelson proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Wisconsin BB-64. His dedication extended to the City of Bedford, where he worked for 35 years in the electrical department as a Class A lineman. He shared his passion for farming with his brother, Haywood. A true community member, Nelson was a lifetime member of Mentow Baptist Church. Known for his friendly nature, he never met a stranger, finding joy in engaging with everyone he encountered.

He leaves behind his son, Rodney Lee Crouch, and grandchildren Cayla Crouch and Shannon Jackson (Lewis) along with their son, Jax. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Huddleston Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 436, Huddleston, VA, 24104, reflecting Nelson’s commitment to community safety. A Funeral Service to celebrate Nelson’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Mentow Baptist Church.

Dr. Rick Foster and Rev. Rick Dellinger will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. As we remember Floyd Nelson Crouch, let us honor the legacy of a man who dedicated his life to service, warmth, and genuine connection.
