Pete Frias Obituary, Death – It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we gather to announce the passing of an extraordinary individual, Pete Sanchez Frias, on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Pete’s departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, as he was not just a caring son and brother, a loving husband, an amazing father, but also an exceptional grandfather, bringing warmth and joy to the lives he touched.

Born on August 11, 1961, Pete spent his entire life as a proud resident of Las Cruces, leaving an indelible mark on the community through his kindness, humor, and unwavering love. Pete’s infectious laughter and sense of humor lit up every room he entered, and his ability to make anyone smile was a testament to his genuine and uplifting spirit.

A loyal friend, Pete’s impact extended beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of numerous Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His legacy lives on through his children, Pete Frias Jr. (PJ) and Sally Frias, and his four beloved grandchildren, Marisol, Pete III, Penelope, and Dezier.

Pete’s journey in life was intertwined with his soulmate, Socorro Frias, whom he married on July 25, 1986. Together, they created a haven of love and mentorship, baptizing nieces and nephews and hosting sleepovers for the children they uplifted. Pete’s commitment to his community was further demonstrated through his involvement in the Catholic Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher.

A skilled mechanic from a young age, Pete’s hands-on approach to life defined his career. From his early days at Joe’s Radiator Shop to opening his own venture, Picacho Radiator Shop in 2000, Pete’s dedication and passion for his work were evident. Later in life, he transitioned into a Facility Manager role in nursing and assisted living facilities in Las Cruces, thriving in a new vocation while continuing to positively impact the lives of those he served.

Pete’s family invites all who wish to pay their respects to join the viewing at La-Paz Grahm’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 20, from 4 pm to 8 pm, with a Rosary from 6 pm to 7 pm. The Mass will be held on Thursday, December 21, at 10 am at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal and Interment of the cremated remains will be announced at a later date, allowing family and friends time to come together and celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose smile and laughter will forever echo in our hearts. As Pete would say, “PAINT IT” or “No es Jale! (That’s not work!)”—his love, teachings, and vibrant spirit will be cherished, valued, and remembered always.
