Charles Wayne Martin: A Life Well-Lived On June 3, 2023, Charles Wayne Martin, aged 74, ascended to his heavenly home, leaving behind a trail of memories etched in the hearts of those who knew him. Born on December 29, 1948, Wayne was the eldest son of the late Robert and Mary Neal Martin. His journey through life encompassed diverse roles, each reflecting his character, resilience, and commitment to service.
After graduating from Franklin County High School, Wayne pursued higher education at Greenleaf Business College and Southeastern School of Broadcasting in Atlanta. His educational journey was complemented by six years of dedicated service in the National Guard, showcasing his sense of duty and patriotism.
Wayne’s voice became a familiar presence in Northeast Georgia as he took on the role of a broadcaster at WLET Radio Station in Toccoa. In 1969, he embarked on a lifelong partnership with his beloved Connie, and their union was blessed with a son, Jonathan. Together, they ventured into the business world, owning and operating Radio Shack Stores in Toccoa, Clayton, Lavonia, and Cornelia. In 2014, Wayne bid farewell to the retail world, returning to the farm where he grew up.
